Recorded in 2022 and 2024 and broadcast on CBeebies channel, this acclaimed 52-part animation series follows the adventures of Pinocchio and his eccentric collection of friends and enemies. Joe voiced four main characters including a number of other smaller roles including pirates, a shark and numerous grumpy pensioners. The series is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
Cricket ​
Cricket is not a toy but a real cricket to which the Blue Fairy has entrusted the task of keeping an eye on Pinocchio and his friends during her absence. Comically fearful and apprehensive, terrified by the outside world that Pinocchio likes so much, with whom he is a real grouch, the Cricket will inevitably follow the two protagonists in their daily adventures.​
Master Cherry ​
Cherry is a funny guy constantly showing off and trying to hide his baldness under a wig that never stays still. He is the whimsical owner of the store across the street from Geppetto’s. Master Cherry sells electronics: gadgets, household, leisure items, and any other technological gizmo. He enjoys making fun of Geppetto, considering him old-fashioned and outdated. Geppetto never gets angry but enjoys replying to his taunts… when Cherry teases Geppetto you can rest assured that something funny is going to happen.
Candlewick
Candlewick is a young boy who always tells stories. He is not a bad child, but he does everything he can to be accepted by his classmates… and he does it the wrong way by trying to stand out. Undisciplined, his attitude hides a fragile and insecure personality. Pinocchio is a true friend to him, even though he is not the ideal adventure companion for Pinocchio… when the two friends are together, trouble is always around the corner! Candlewick loves being with Pinocchio and could follow him anywhere.
The Cat​
The Cat and the Fox are crafty, a pair of rogues who live day to day convinced that they are moving in a world populated by chickens to pluck. The Cat and the Fox are adventurers, lazy and ambitious with the dream of a comfortable life made of idleness, wealth and no fatigue. This pushes them to the continuous, feverish search for an easy deal, a naive one to rob or, better still, a treasure to recover.​
Casimir​
A world weary baboon from Newcastle, Casimir is the put upon assistant to the magician Mangiufuoco. He is often involved in numerous scrapes and is invariably given the worst jobs to do resulting in his less than sunny demeanour. ​
Captain Sweetbeard​
Freeda's father and captain of a motley crew of sailors on his own galleon. Well meaning, naive and with pretensions of grandeur, he's a bit of a bumbling idiot with a heart of gold.​​
This CGI animated version of the famous Pinocchio takes us to Papa Geppetto’s magical toymaker’s shop. His shop is a very special place: it is home to the wooden puppet Pinocchio and his friend the ragdoll Freeda. It is Pinocchio’s dream to become a real little boy, while Freeda wishes to become a real pirate!
Their dreams will take them on an amazing journey and guide them through the most incredible adventures. The Blue Fairy is the only one who can help Pinocchio and Freeda to realize their dreams. Join the fun and see if their dreams will become reality.

the son of master cherry. a spoilt brat who terrorises pinocchio at first but as series two progress he becomes much likeable and friendly.
MR. KURZ
a fearsome one-legged glasweigan pensioner who terrifies the kids, but as series two progresses he becomes almost like a grandfather figure to pinocchio. his bark is definitley worse than his bite!
BOATSWAIN SEASICK
an elderly member of captain sweetbeard's crew. he's been at sea so long he has salt water in his veins.
THE SHARK
the terror of the seas with a penchant for karaoke. he fancies himself as a pop star but is really a big softie. a gruff cockney porpoise who's bite is not as fearful as his outward persona.
SGT. RULF
hapless irish police officer, who, with his dim-witted assistant are constantly on the trail of the two cats.
ZUFUS
AN AGED CIRCUS ENTERTAINER IN THE EMPLOY OF MANGIAFUOCO. HIS BEST DAYS ARE BEHIND HIM. A SWEET OLD MAN WHO LIVES IN FEAR OF HIS BOSS.
